Have you ever been to Scotland? Don’t you think its incredibly romantic? From the picturesque scenery, to the sexy Scottish accent – there really is nothing not to love!
I have only ever been to Scotland once and honestly, I fell in love. Though when I say, I fell in love… sadly that wasn’t some romantic “fell in love all over again” with my husband at the time – as now he is my ex husband! But instead, I fell in love with Scotland. Ever since visiting, I’ve wanted to go back, but unfortunately something has always got in the way.
I visited Scotland in 2008, the year my youngest daughter was born. We stayed in the Trossachs, a place described as “a romantic introduction to the magnificent scenery of Highland Scotland”. Our accommodation was almost castle-like, a fairytale dream come true! Not only that, but the hotel looked out over a shimmering loch, green forests and deep-cut glens. It was an absolute paradise.
And this was just my initial reaction. Over the week long holiday, we visited several castles; Edinburgh, Stirling and Urquhart. We saw many beautiful lochs; Loch Ness, Loch Katrine, Loch Lomond. We visited small towns such as Callander and large cities like Edinburgh. We drove through hills and valleys, past mountains and rivers. We saw so much in such a short space of time (though sadly no Nessie!).
I would love to go back and explore once again. There is so much more I’d like to see and do – and honestly a lot of them involve Harry Potter landmarks! My ex husband wasn’t at all into Harry Potter and the kids were too young. But now, not only do I love Harry Potter, the kids do and even Chris does as well. Scotland would be such a great place to visit, as Chris has never been and neither of the girls really remember going (Megan was 3 and Lily was a newborn).
Scotland is such a beautiful and romantic place to visit. I would truly love to go there with Chris and show him everything I’ve seen and more. Not only that but I’d love to share it with my girls, two children who I’m so proud to say, actually enjoy visiting new and beautiful places.
