2017 is almost drawing to a close, and it’s almost time to start making plans and dreaming about what we want to achieve next year. Most of us will think of things like losing weight, eating healthier, spending more time with family etc… but what about things we want to DO?
You’ve all heard of a bucket list: it’s a list of activities and things we want to see and experience in our lifetimes. Why not skip the new year’s resolutions this year, and make a New Year’s bucket list instead? If you are stuck for ideas, here are some amazing sights and activities you can’t miss out on.
If you are a seasoned adventurer and are looking for an extra challenge, you can complete a number of different challenges all over the world. This can include things such as Cycle Africa, 24 peak challenge, and even the Dalai Lama Trek. If you love the great outdoors, this is definitely something you should try out.
2. Wild chimpanzees on Lake Tanganyika
Visit one of the most remote safaris in Africa, and trek into the mountains to come face-to-face with one of our closest ancestors; chimpanzees. You will be able to stay with a group of them for over an hour, and really see what it is to be a primate.
If you love winter sports, then taking a helicopter trip to remote mountains where you can ski will be an exhilarating activity for you. You’ll be able to ski down huge mountains in Iceland and find yourself next to the river where you can fish for fresh salmon.
4. Rafting and rock climbing in the Pyrenees
The Pyrenees is a magnificent mountain range on the border of France and Spain, where you will be able to complete a ton of fun activities such as white water rafting, abseiling, rock climbing and even trekking through this stunning mountain range.
5. Polar bears
If you’ve always wanted to see a polar bear close-up, the remote island of Spitsbergen in the Arctic is the perfect place to go, You’ll be able to watch this creatures as they hunt for food in the vast landscape and you’ll get loads of great photo opportunities.
6. The Spirit Bear
Canada is the home of one of the most spectacular breeds of bear in the world- the ‘Spirit Bear’. It is the only place in the world where you’ll be able to see a white-coloured black bear. It is believed that these bears are a variation of the black bear we all know, and you can take a trip by motorboat to see these creatures in their natural habitat.
7. Horseback safari
If a regular in-car safari is too boring for you, you can take it one step further and complete a safari on the back of a horse. It is in Kenya you will be able to experience this alternative type of safari, and you’ll be able to get much closer to the wildlife which resides there as the animals aren’t scared of horses. You’ll be able to get up close and personal with some of the world’s most famous animals: elephants, lions and zebras.
8. A Husky Tour
If you love huskies, then this Finnish adventure will be the perfect activity to do in 2018. You’ll be in charge of a group of 4-5 huskies and you’ll be able to go on a dog-sledding adventure, cooking in the wilderness, setting up camp and looking after the dogs.
Explore the Finnish wilderness by snowmobile northwards from Kittila to the Norwegian border. This is followed by a two-day husky safari taking charge of your own team of four or five dogs, cooking over open fires and sleeping in a tent or wilderness cabin. A final day of snowmobiling follows the Victoria Trail along the Swedish border.
