For many people, Christmas is a chance to take some time off work and unwind – spent time with family, drink and eat till we burst and generally enjoy not having too much planned. However if you’re anything like me, a few days off work and you started to get a little bored and wonder what you can do. Here are some ideas to keep you busy over the Christmas period.
Build a jigsaw
Something I find really relaxing and extremely festive for some reason, is making a jigsaw. The fact you have some whole free days during this time, means a really good time to do a jigsaw. So long as you have the space, why not start one and continue it on over a few days so it doesn’t stop being fun and gets too stressful. This is something all the family can help with, as well as drop in and out of.
Play Online Bingo
A major advantage to the internet is that it really never sleeps. This is great for many things including shopping online and of course playing online games. Bingo can be incredibly fun and relaxing, plus the advantage to doing it online means you can commit to only one game or stay doing it for hours. Even better you don’t have to head out into the cold or even find friends who want to go with you!
Head out for a meal or grab takeaway and watch a movie
As much as we all love a Christmas dinner – with turkey and all the trimmings, depending on how many family events you might be attending, it is possible to get sick of the same thing over and over again. Grabbing a takeaway and spending the evening watching a movie as a family, is a great way to break up the norm and give you a change from cooking or eating the same things. Heading out to dinner is also a good way to get out of the house, without really needing a purpose.
Take a walk and catch some fresh air
The thing I like most about Christmas Day and the days surrounding it, is that everything seems to quieten down somewhat. Where we live there are loads of really nice places to take a walk – very scenic, especially if you’re lucky enough to get snow. Take the kids or even the dog, get some fresh air and enjoy some peace and quiet. A bike ride would also be a great way to burn off some of those extra Christmas calories!
