This summer we were lucky enough to take an amazing road trip to the West Coast of the USA. Myself and my daughters were looking forward to vest tops and shorts, or summer dresses but my partner who lives in jeans and t-shirts, definitely wasn’t looking forward to being so hot. As a big man, he often struggles to find clothes that fit properly, which is one of the main reasons he sticks to what he knows. However jeans were definitely not an option for this trip so we needed to put some better thought into it.
Having previously bought items from Jacamo, we felt very lucky when they offered us some items for review. We picked out some shirts and some shorts, both of which we knew we could dress up and down. Both shirts were short sleeved and light. Chris was happy to wear them by themselves as shirts, or over the top of t-shirts and open. The shorts were both knee length pairs, as he doesn’t like them shorter than that. And yes, you may notice that they are mostly dark colours and how this isn’t ideal for summer and sun in general. However there is only so much I can do to change a person’s style! He still needed to feel comfortable at the end of the day haha!
Our trip consisted of visiting places like Vancouver, who have a very similar summer temperature to what we’re used to – and then the total opposite end of the scale – Las Vegas in summer, which was around 45 degrees. We needed pieces that could be adapted to all these variations and these items did exactly that. Of course, we’ll get much more use out of them in years to come, but these were really great for this particular trip.
The thing we really like about Jacamo is that they offer big sizes (such as 3XL) which is rare in a lot of shops. They also offer items in different lengths, such as short, regular and long. This is also great because so many shops expect everyone to be the same and that just isn’t the case. My partner who usually wears around 40 inch waist, struggles to shop in most high street stores and yet Jacamo stock loads of items in bigger waist measurements.
Not only did we have a fantastic holiday but the great thing about these picks, he’s getting plenty of use out of them still, even now we’re hope. With the weather getting colder, the shirts are always a throw-on overshirt and the shorts are great for lounging around in on days off and evenings. The shirts are a really nice fabric too, so much so he might even be wearing one to a wedding tomorrow – so it will be great to see it all dressed up with a tie as well.
