The girls are loving riding their bikes right now. Megan has pretty much grasped riding her “big” bike and Lily is ready to have her stabilisers taken off. This week we headed down to Aldi one night after school and I let the girls take their bikes. I actually really enjoyed the evening sun and the walk with them.
Hello! Another week has flown by and here is my round up of it. Sadly I’m not really in the mood to blog – and while I know they say you shouldn’t bother if you’re not in the mood – I didn’t want to get behind either!
So this week has been my first full week back at work and also the week the kids started back at school. In all honesty, for me at least, its been absolutely exhausting. While I don’t work a lot – only 5 hours a day – when you have seven weeks of relaxing (or at least going at your own pace) its a bit of a shock to the system going back to work. Not only that, but I’ve been doing some extra/overtime this week so that’s taken its toll too. Work has been okay though and not really much to report on that front.
Monday through Friday, I had work as I mentioned. As well as that, the kids were with their dad for the Monday into Tuesday, when my mum then picked them up and had them Tuesday. They stayed at home with Chris on Wednesday before finally returning to school on Thursday and Friday. There wasn’t anything of particular note during Monday, though Tuesday when I got home from work I baked Chocolate Orange cupcakes and they were amazing!
Again there wasn’t anything of real note on Wednesday or Thursday, but Friday after school/work we all went out for dinner to Prezzo as a sort of “we survived the week” celebration. We had a lovely dinner and then afterwards the girls insisted on running through the fountains in Marshall’s Yard – which was hilarious. Afterwards, because they were soaked through, Chris offered to walk home with the girls rather than take them in the car. I drove back home and then walked back to meet them for the rest of the walk home.
Saturday was a fairly relaxing day, with no real plans. I made some more cupcakes – this time chocolate milkshake flavour. They were yummy too! On top of that, in the evening, Jon and Nat came around and we all played the Firefly board game. Chris bought this from LFCC (comic con) and its been a pretty staple favourite ever since. On Sunday, mum had been meant to come over but she wasn’t feeling very well. As a surprise I baked homemade bread and made soup, before taking it over for lunch with her. Chris also took Megan out on her bike in the morning and she’s definitely gaining more confidence. I went out again in the afternoon with both Megan and Lily and by that point the weather was just perfect for a lovely Sunday afternoon.
Finally in the evening Chris was out at a work leaving do so I just chilled out and watched TV. When Chris got home we just snuggled up on the sofa and ended up watching a movie that had us both in tears!
That was pretty much my week. No highs and no lows really, just back to the same routine and making my body adjust accordingly. One a plus side its now only six weeks until I’m off again so that’s a reason to be happy right?
I need to do a weekly round up (amoungst other things) and I really don’t feel in the mood. However, not doing it will only add to the hundred things I have to do tomorrow, so despite feeling a little tired and teary, this has been my week!
Monday the girls were with their dad, as they mostly are during the school holidays. Chris and I were both off and spending the day together – having the painter and decorator come to repair the attic sealing and also having our new washing machine arrive! Somehow, for two weeks we managed without one (the first week I washed at my mum’s but after that I just let it build up) but now we have a beautiful new shiny black one and seriously I love it.
The rest of the day we just chilled out, didn’t really do much and honestly it was lovely! Tuesday Chris was working but I went to collect the kids for their dads. I had to post a load of parcels (all the Discovery Club boxes and the #LincsBlogMeet goodie bags) and then we also needed a few bits from the shop. The rest of the day was spent at home because Megan had arranged to FaceTime with some friends. Lily and I spent most of the afternoon watching movies.
Wednesday Chris wasn’t at work till pretty late in the day so as a family we all hung out together, watching TV, playing computers etc. I guess it wasn’t really together as such but we were at least all together. When Chris went to work the girls and I watched another movie, then afterwards we got out the nail varnishes and painted all our toe nails. Thursday was a full on family day and it was great. Chris and I managed a bit of a lie in and then when we got up, we took the girls swimming. Lily wanted to show Chris how she could swim now and Megan is definitely improving too. After swimming we headed out to Blyton Ice Cream Parlour again, this time for lunch AND ice cream. It was twice as yummy! We had sandwiches and paninis for lunch but all promised to have different flavoured ice creams – not only from last time but from each other. This time Chris had Gaelic Coffee, I had Gingerbread Man, Lily had Cookies and Cream and Megan had Cream Egg.
Sunday and Chris was off again, though we didn’t have anything planned. His sister and nephew called around in the morning for a while which was nice, but as it was absolutely chucking it down all day, we didn’t voyage out. The house started leaking again – no surprise – this time near the back door. We haven’t done anything about it yet as its nothing major (for now). Since Chris had promised the kids more Cirque du Soleil, they all headed upstairs for a while in the afternoon. However they came back down again so we could all hang out, before their dad would be picking them up in the evening.
Chris and I spent the evening watching Ted and then Final Destination 5. We ordered an Indian Takeaway and drank a bottle of wine. It was a really nice evening though sadly I didn’t feel too great by the time we went to bed!
On top of that, its been a week of selling things on Ebay, texting Amy a whole lots to discuss Cosplay options, looking around Ebay for patterns and material, plus trying to be a bit better with my diet. I also finally started to work on getting my jewellery listed on Jewellery Ever After, though sadly its a long process! It been a pretty good week though sadly at the point of writing this, it doesn’t really feel like it (a downside to being tired and not feeling well). However I’m looking forward to the rest of this week as we have a few little bits planned but not too much!
