Its been a bit of a rocky week, at least towards the end. I’ve felt emotional on and off all week and I have to admit I’m glad to see the back of it. However its not been all bad and here’s why…!
Monday the girls were with their dad, Chris was working and I had agreed to work too. Though I work in a school, we’re moving building over the holidays and we’ve had a whole new kitchen built. As such, it all needs a good clean and unpacking. After giving Chris a lift to work, I picked up my friend Kristy and we headed to work. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) we weren’t able to work! So after a half an hour or so of looking around and chatting, we got to go! Sadly, as I’d given Chris a lift to work, I had to wait around for him till 2pm and couldn’t go home. However, I made the best of it and headed into town for an unexpected walk around and window shop. I did treat myself to a Starbucks though and I picked up a Gorden Ramsay cookbook for £2.50!
When I finally picked up Chris, we headed home and just hung out. I ended up not feeling very well, so went for a bath and Chris looked after me and made me cups of tea for the rest of the evening. Amy and I also text a lot, discussing the next costumes we might make!
Tuesday I got a bit of a lay in, but woke to the news that Robin Williams died. That was a surprisingly sad feeling that lingered with me all day – in fact for a few days – especially as my Facebook feed was filled with news about it. When I eventually dragged myself out of bed, I went to get the girls from their dad’s. I then called in on my mum for a cup of tea, before heading home. The girls and I drove around Lea and the surrounding area on our way back, looking for the #DiamondInTheSky but sadly no luck! When we got home, we didn’t do an awful lot but it was nice to relax. We did however sort out their bedroom, packing away all their stuff and making it ready for decorating the next day. Once they were in bed (in the attic room) I did a bit of shopping on Ebay and listing my jewellery on Jewellery Ever After.
Wednesday was Chris’ day off but we also had a lot going on. At about 8.10am a guy from British Gas came around to do a check on our loft insulation. At 9am, the painter and decorator arrived to work on the girls bedroom. Last week we ordered a new computer for Megan and that arrived too. I had to run out to the shops for several things, and also pick up some parcels. It was a nice day but a busy one.

In the evening, Chris and I had the first of our Ilumi meals and they were great. The evening was spent watching TV, on the computer, playing Xbox etc.
On Thursday my car had to go for its MoT so I was up early to take it over and then my mum lent me her car to come home. Chris was off for the morning so we all hung out together, but when he left for work, the girls and I spent time setting up Megan’s computer. However I got a call from the garage to say my car had failed its MoT and sadly that was just the beginning of a bad afternoon. I won’t get too into it but I basically had to take my car elsewhere to get it looked at, only to find out that fixing it would be between £600-700 and would take a week! Luckily the people at the garage were kind enough to lend me a car, so I’m not completely stranded. The rest of the evening I felt a bit bummed out but Nat came around and we cheered each other up so it wasn’t too bad!
Friday was Chris’ day off again but as we were still getting the girls room done, we up early yet again. The girls went out with their Grandma for the day to Sundown Adventure, so Chris and I had the day to ourselves. I spent majority of it listing more jewellery on Etsy. After the decorator was finished and gone, Chris and I decided to go out for dinner. We headed out to The Hume Arms in Torksey and had delicious pizza! Afterwards we went to pick the girls up from Saxilby before heading home. I was exhausted and so Chris and I just watched some TV and then eventually headed to bed.
Saturday started off quite emotional – there were a number of reasons but mostly because the printer was broken (stupid I know) and I needed to print off tickets for Eureka! However the problem was eventually solved, a few other things went wrong and through tears we eventually set off. Mum came with the kids and I to Eureka for the day and we had a lovely time. It was a Blogger Event and so I will be blogging about it soon but we were treated to free entry, free lunch and face painting for the kids. We spent pretty much the whole day at Eureka and it was great. When we did eventually get home (very tired) the kids and I just sat and watched TV till each of them went to bed. Even I decided to spend the evening just watching TV, rather than stress over anything else.
Chris was at work again Sunday, though not as early so we got a bit of a lie in (I mean, if you call 8 a lie-in, which honestly I don’t really). I finally had a day free to sort out the girls room too, so we cleaned and tidied in there, ready for them to move back in. It was a much bigger job than I anticipated and it took us an hour or so in the morning and another couple in the afternoon. My brother and his girlfriend called over lunch though so that gave us the opportunity of a break. We also packed for the girls to go to their dad’s but otherwise we just hung out watching tv together until he arrived. Once the girls were gone, I headed out to my mum’s to swap my car with hers. We are heading to Thorpe Park on Monday (that’s today!!) and her car is far better on fuel than mine (or the temporary car that I currently have). I stopped for a cup of tea and a chat but then headed home and had a bath. Chris came home and joined me and then we were both naughty and ordered takeaway and had a glass of wine. We watched The Hangover as Chris has never seen it and then afterwards we headed to bed.
At least, despite it feeling rocky, its ended on a high and I’m glad to be heading out to Thorpe Park. More than glad to be honest, really excited. I’m up at 6.30am and all ready to go – that’s why this is getting posted so early! On top of the stuff I already mentioned, I’ve been getting my creative head on this week too – all of which you can read about on Twice the Mum, in a post going live later.
Hope you’ve all had good weeks and not as rocky as mine!
