Last week I received a crystal nail file from Healthy Nails Professional, in order to review. As you know, I’ve recently been on somewhat of a beauty kick and really this review couldn’t have better timing. In the last two weeks alone, the girls and I have bought about ten new nail polishes!
Some weeks ago, I was contacted by Footstools 2 U, to offer me a footstool as a competition prize. However, being a wary person I was worried about offering a competition prize from a company I had never dealt with personally. There are so many scare stories these days about Bloggers who run competitions and then companies never provide the prize – sadly you end up responsible yourself for providing that prize or something the the same value.
On asking if it was possible to review one first, I was told that unfortunately the offer was only for one at this time. Perhaps a little selfishly, but also because I thought it was best, I decided to have a footstool to review, rather than as a competition prize – and I agreed to review the footstool and the company Footstools 2 U.
The footstool I was offered, was either this one:
A small leather footstool, available in a selection of leathers and with either mahogany or natural wood feet.
Or this one:
Again, a small footstool, available in a selection of fabrics and with either mahogany or natural wood feet.
I picked the leather one, largely because the colours suited our lounge better. I have to admit that I did specify I wasn’t fussy though and would happily have anything in red. I also plumped for mahogany feet as our lounge is all dark wood.
It wasn’t long at all before the footstool arrived. It came by courier and was incredibly well packed.
I excitedly unpacked it, to find a beautiful footstool that I knew I loved the minute I saw it. Also included were instructions on how to look after my leather footstool, caring for the leather etc.
I was genuinely very pleased with the footstool and immediately tried it out!
Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve never really owned a footstool before. Forcing yourself to use one, or rather getting used to using one, when you never have, is quite a strange thing. For the most part, that’s why my review of this footstool has taken several weeks for me to get around to. I wanted to make sure I was giving it an accurate review.
So far, I’ve got no complaints about the footstool at all. It is comfy with or without shoes. It doesn’t mark or retain any indentations. And better still, its big enough to share with a partner, even though its small!
This is not at all a biased review, or swayed by having been given the footstool for free. These are opinions are honest and genuine. I am incredibly happy with this footstool and I would definitely buy from Footstools 2 U again. The lady I dealt with was incredibly friendly, helpful and efficient. Delivery was only a few days and I was kept up to date by text on its courier arrival. To anyone who is looking to get a footstool, please consider this site. I really couldn’t recommend them highly enough. And even better? The lovely people at Footstools 2U have allowed me to give you a 15% off discount code! So if you want to buy, enter this code SAVE15PERCENT and save yourself some money! Let me know if you buy one!
Last week I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to review a personalised skin or case, from the nice people at Wrappz. They offer personalised phone and tablet cases, along with custom skins for laptops, consoles, tablets, phones, ipods and kindles. As I’ve got a nice phone case and ipad case already, I decided it would be good to add a skin to my laptop!
Making a personalised skin (for whatever device you pick), couldn’t be easier. After selecting the fact I wanted a laptop skin, the step by step process was simple.
My laptop is an Acer but unfortunately the model wasn’t listed under the Acer options. However it was no problem to grab the tape measure and go for the custom size option “Can’t Find Your Laptop Size?”
There are several different options, for designing your personalised skin. You can add images or text, with help videos and previews also offered. Within images there is the option to use your own (which you can upload) or to use ones from the gallery. These are broken up into Artists Images, Slogans, Our Images, Photography and Funny Faces.
I really couldn’t decide what I wanted, so in the end I just searched the web for a picture I liked. Depending on the picture you upload, you do have to click a box that says “I have the right to use this image” (though in all honesty I only just noticed that, while going back to the site and looking, in order to write this review). Anyway after uploading my image, I checked it looked okay and placed my order. The whole process is simple, fast and very efficient.
I received a confirmation email, straight after I placed my order (this was Tuesday evening). By Thursday my skin had arrived (though I only collected it from the Post Office on Saturday – it was too big for the letterbox!). The skin came well packaged in a cardboard re-enforced envelope. When I opened it up I was really pleased with the quality!
The laptop skin came with instructions on how to apply your Wrappz. It’s really easy so basically just a case of peeling it off the backing and sticking it on! Even better, if you accidentally put it on a bit wonky (or upside down like I did!) you can peel it off easy and restick it – no messy, sticky bits or lack of stick afterwards!
I’m really really pleased with my laptop skin and when the girls came home from Nanny’s house both of them remarked on it as the first thing they saw when they walked in. Even better, the skin came with a discount code for 20% off my next purchase (and my confirmation email even had a 10% off code on it too!).
Now for the even better news… you lucky readers, can get yourself a FREE SKIN for your phone! All you have to pay is postage! Bargain right? So visit the site Wrappz, pick which phone skin you want, customise it and then enter the code “freeskin” at checkout. The voucher is worth £7.99 (which is the total price of a skin, though I think you can even use it as discount off another more expensive item) and postage is just £2.50 for 1st Class post (there is a next day option for £6.95 too). So what are you waiting for? Go!
Everyone in the house is getting really sick and sadly I’ve not escaped it! I’m full of cold and starting to cough somewhat too but I’d promised myself I’d get on top of a whole bunch of blog posts this week and so here I am!
The glasses arrived a few weeks ago and on first impressions I was immediately sold by them. They are genuinely such beautiful and curvy glasses, that I actually just fell in love with them. The packaging they arrived in was incredibly good. Both the box inside the outer box, then the glasses inside the inner box. Nothing was damaged which was a bit of a surprise considering the way the post gets treated sometimes!
I took a whole load of pictures because I like to document these things properly. I’m actually very glad I did though as the box contains a lot of the information you need to know and also far better pictures than I could ever acquire with my iPhone camera.
Each glass is individual in style, each one a little different. However as they are all handmade, they are also unique in the sense that no two glasses will ever been 100% the same. The glasses hold 8 ounces, which is just less than a large glass of wine!
One of the many great things about these glasses is that they will hold both hot and cold liquids in them. As they have double-walls, the heat doesn’t burn your fingers and the cold doesn’t cause condensation (and in turn wet hands). They are dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe, which I think is pretty awesome! Though I haven’t tested the freezer part, they certainly work fine in the dishwasher and microwave.
Despite looking quite fragile, feeling light and delicate, the glasses are incredibly strong and hard wearing. As I said before, they were absolutely fine in the dishwasher, not even a chip.
So a few Sundays ago, we had a roast dinner, complete with very chilled wine! As you can see, no condensation and very pretty glasses ;) If I could have afford to do so, I would have bought another set, to have at our Murder Mystery the other night. However when funds are a little easier, I’m definitely going to buy some more. I think they’d be really lovely to have out at a dinner party. Don’t you?

Recently I was lucky enough, to be offered the opportunity to review an Ozeri product. I was given the choice of several of their items, including bathroom scales, thermo drinking glasses, frying pans, electric wine openers – to name but a few. However after much deliberation, I decided on some kitchen scales. Ozeri Epicurean Digital Kitchen Scales, to be specific.
When the package arrived, I was super excited. This is the first item I’ve been lucky enough to be sent to review and I was determined to document it properly. Even on first glance, the scales looked great.
Everything about the box was appealing and reading the information on it made me excited to try them out. However I knew it would be a week or so before I would have time and so the scales were carefully placed in the kitchen, ready for their first trial.
As I had no birthdays coming up (and a half completed kitchen), I was unsure what exactly I wanted to cook, in order to test out the scales. I procrastinated for a while, before finally the summer holidays seemed to be creeping to an end. For those who read my blog often, you’ll know I work in a school. This is perfect for the most part, as it means I get to be home with the kids. However as I work in a private school, our holidays are a little bit different. Unfortunately this summer I’ve had to go back to work a week before the kids are due back at school – and the nearer that time got, the more it started to upset me. As such, I suggested a baking day. The kids loved the idea and although it took us a few more days to get around to, finally on our last day together before I went back to work, we had our baking day.
The day started off with planning. We looked through about four recipe books and decided on four things we’d like to try. We made a list of all the ingredients we needed, then headed through to the kitchen to check our cupboards. After marking off what we had and didn’t have, we made a shopping list. Finally we headed off to Tesco in order to buy everything we needed.
Our day of baking was to include:
– Peanut Butter Bears
– Cheesy Bread Rolls
– Marbled Cupcakes
– Whoopie Pies
By this point, it was actually just after lunch. I carefully removed the scales from their box for the first time, pleased to see that the batteries for the scales were also included in there. Setting the scales up was simple – insert the batteries and then turn on. Nothing more. I was greeted with a pleasing beep as the green digital display lit up and we were ready to go.
First up was Peanut Butter bears. The recipe was incredibly easy and it was a good one to start with as there was no actual cooking involved (except melting some peanut butter) just fun rolling, shaping and decorating.
Next we moved onto Cheesy Bread Rolls. I have to admit I’m not usually very good with bread. I don’t have the patience for all that kneading! Anyway we gave the rolls our best shot and they didn’t turn out too bad.
They didn’t rise all that much but again this was largely due to my patience kneading and also because there wasn’t really a warm place in the house/kitchen to put the rolls to rise.
Throughout the whole process, I was very impressed with the scales. They seemed accurate and the design lent itself to any type of bowl or plate being placed on the top. Though we only worked in grams, there was an ounces option too. The scales can also be turned off, or they turn off by themselves after a few moments of none use. Though not at all relevant to their use, the scales also look great. I feel incredibly proud to have these shiny scales on my kitchen worktop.
Next up was Marbled Cupcakes. Though I usually make incredibly nice cupcakes without a recipe, we followed the one in our cookbook to make these. I have to admit they weren’t as nice as they could have been, but I’m sure that was the use of oil instead of butter in the mixture. Ultimately they looked nice when they were finished, but they just weren’t as light as I would usually make. I think perhaps in the future we’ll follow the same process to make them, while using a more standard recipe.
Finally we made Whoopie Pies but unfortunately these didn’t get finished on that day and I then forgot to take the final pictures. However we had a lot of fun baking and by the time it got around to teatime we’d licked so many bowls that no one was hungry enough for dinner.
These were our final products, with peanut butter bears to the left and cheesy rolls and marbled cupcakes to the right. Overall we had a lovely day though it actually made me even more sad to go back to work the next day. I would highly recommend Ozeri kitchen scales and will definitely consider buying Ozeri products in the future. Several of their items can be found at Amazon and are very reasonably priced.
