So half way through this evening, while I was writing my Monday Round-up post, our washing machine decided to die. I have to admit I’m not completely shocked by this – if I our washing machine was a person, it had recently been sounding like a 50-a-day smoker.
I’m going to try and make this quick as I have a lot to do tonight and its also GoT finale night!
This week has been a fairly steady sort of a week, with busy moments and quiet moments – overall feeling fairly normal. Monday to Friday has been a regular work/school week for everyone. I didn’t work any extra evenings and nothing spectacular happened!
Monday the girls had an after school club. This is the first time that they have both been at something at the same time! It was really nice to have a bit of extra time after work and I ended up popping into town and having a potter around. Sadly there was a sudden flash rainstorm and everyone in town got soaked! There was even a cafe on the Waterside that got flooded! In addition to that, I found out the Iron Throne will be at Comic Con in a few weeks time and I have to admit I’m pretty excited by that! Monday was also my brother’s birthday though I didn’t see him that day. His party was Friday, but more about that in a moment!
Tuesday night I was baking cakes! As I mentioned it was my brother’s birthday on the Monday and his party on the Friday. I spent Tuesday and Thursday nights doing his cake! Wednesday the girls and I defrosted the freezer (that was fun!) and Thursday night I went shopping for party food. Thursday night was also a sort of crazy night, what with last minute changes to the Murder Mystery, a new costume needed for Megan (who was standing in for someone who couldn’t make it), shopping to help my brother out with his costume and booking flights to Florida (which sadly didn’t go as smoothly as I’d have hoped! However all in all, it gone done and I was glad for it.
Friday night was the Murder Mystery. I will be making a post all about it but it was basically a Superhero themed one. It was fantastic and everyone really enjoyed it. I’m glad we picked it!
Saturday was a day of part relaxing, part organising. Amy was here for the whole weekend so as well as making another cake (it was Harry’s birthday on Sunday) we also spent the time getting sorted for the Blog Meet! Sunday I finished off my cake, took Amy to the train station and then headed over to Nat’s for Harry birthday. Finally I spent the evening trying to catch up on about 3 days of online stuff, as well as more blog meet stuff! Sunday was also Father’s Day and while sadly my dad isn’t around to celebrate Father’s Day any more, he was definitely on my mind.
Every day was a great mail day! Amy and I are doing a Blog Meet this coming weekend and as the event draws nearer, we’ve been getting more and more stuff! Not only that but I treated myself to some new MAC lipstick, as well as buying the patterns for making my Comic Con costume. So those, along with my murder mystery costume, all arrived in the mail this week.
Not much else to report, but generally stuff is good. Well, except for the leaking toilet… but then when isn’t something going wrong in this house? Till next time!
Its been a crazy day! Beautiful sunshine and a whole weekend where Chris and I are both off work. As such it’s a full DIY housework day!
We knocked it on the head at about 7pm and went to get take away! Chris and I are both exhausted right now but in a strangely satisfying way. Tomorrow we have to fill, paint and finish off the hallway. I’m so happy to have made some progress!!
Anyway, I’m not blogging cos I don’t have time and also I don’t wanna! Haha! I guess I sort of did though.
After a rubbish sort of a Sunday, the week got off to a rocky start! Bank Holiday Monday and unexpectedly I had the kids for the day. We managed to fill the day easily though, mostly with swimming, Harry Potter Lego game, shopping and relaxing. It was a good day!
Tuesday was back to work and school. It was a fairly average, typical sort of a week – but without trying to overshare, I’ve been on my period this week and incredibly teary/emotional. #WLW was a stay the same for weigh-in and even that was a bit depressing and demoralising. I think it threw me off for the week really.
Friday was a fairly terrible day, given that our roof started leaking – and in all places, in the girls room. Chris had to ring around trying to get people to come around the next day, while trying to take his CBT all because I was stuck at work. Luckily we did get a couple of people around to see it but we’re still waiting on a quote. One person mentioned £8000 for a new roof…
There were some highlights to the week though. I got some new make-up brushes through the mail on Wednesday. Chris and I, treated ourselves to Steak, Peppercorn sauce and Chips on Thursday and then we made real popcorn as Chris had never done it before. Friday Chris made Bacon bread and we had it with creamy garlic king prawns for dinner. TV wise, I caught up with OUAT with my brother on Tuesday night and watched HIMYM right up to the series end on Wednesday (crappy ending though!).
Finally, by Saturday the week took a turn for the better. Though the day itself was pretty stressful, I spent it with the girls tidying the house, the evening was incredibly enjoyable. I’ve been torn whether to post about Eurovision separately or not but I think its probably easier to just to add it in here. You’ll have seen my post about the preparations for our Eurovision Party, well Saturday night it happened! Everyone arrived with food and drink representing their country, and dressed to represent too. I’d set up a table in the lounge, made little flag place holders and strung flags around the room. There was a score sheet printed out and we were all ready to go. The girls wanted to stay up for a while and since Amy‘s daughter was in the girls room, I let them stay up a while to make sure she fell asleep. Lily managed till about 9pm I think and Megan till 10pm.
As the Eurovision started, we all grabbed a drink and some food. I was already glad we’d arranged this night as it was nice to socialise without the need for a Murder Mystery party or games night. We ate, drank, laughed a lot and it was a lovely evening. When the Eurovision finished (and UK didn’t win – no surprises there) someone suggested getting Rock Band out. With two guitars, two mics, a piano and a set of drums, we all participated playing Rock Band until the wee hours of the morning!
The next day I was not well, but all self inflicted so no sympathy! Luckily I had nothing much planned except taking Amy back to the station so other than that, the girls and I just did a bit of shopping and grabbed a McDonalds. Luckily by the end of Sunday I was feeling much better, though it felt like the weekend had flown by!
You may have noticed that I haven’t posted my 19/52 of the girls this week either. I’ll hopefully get it done tomorrow but in all honesty it went out of mind and every time I thought about it, they weren’t around for me to take pictures! So till then…
