Yep it’s June and yes those are Easter eggs. Don’t even ask… my kids are so weird. I’m sure we’ll still have Easter chocolate kicking around, even by September. I suppose it’s good that the girls don’t eat too much chocolate but I do get sick of the cardboard boxes kicking around! Make smaller egg boxes people!
So March, April and May, I took out a subscription to Birchbox – as part of my new found interest in Beauty (well my attempt at being interested!). At first I loved it, but then my interest fizzled a little, so I decided to cancel my subscription and try out Glossybox instead. My first box came last month and the fact I never got around to blogging about it, probably says a lot. However my second one arrived today… and its official, I’m not interested.
I can’t really explain why… perhaps there is an element of brand snobbery? But I do know I wasn’t anywhere near as interested in my Glossybox contents, as I was my Birchbox ones.
So here is what I got last month (May).
While it was beautifully presented, I just wasn’t sold on any of the products – or the magazine that came with it. I mean, its great that you get so many full size products, but at the same time I suppose there was a part of me that was disappointed they were all brands I could buy in a high street shop and even brands I’d already bought.
However, with it being the Superdrug 50th Anniversary edition, I did wonder if that had effected things. So I vowed to stick in there, at least another month, just to see what I got. As I said before, my box arrived today and this was the contents of June’s box.
While this one was a little more interesting (in my opinion) and still beautifully presented, it just didn’t grab me. The nail varnish will be handy (though I do have a similar one), the hair stuff smells great but I’m a bugger for even bothering with my hair! I have an eye brush, I’m not a huge fan of sample sachets and though I’ve never heard of So Susan, I guess I’m interested to try this. Otherwise though, a bit of a bust.
As such, I’ve cancelled my subscription. I’m not even lasting it out for the three months I originally thought I would give it. I’m currently trying to decide if I move onto trying another Beauty Box, or if I save up my money! Any suggestions?
I posted last week about the possibility of a Lincoln Blog Meet and now I’m writing to let you know that an official date has been decided on!
The Lincoln Blog Meet will take place in Lincoln, on Saturday 21st June. As I mentioned before we have lots of things planned and a definite time will be decided a little nearer to the date. However we expect the event to begin around 10-11am and continue on till about 2-3pm.
We currently have about 14 people interested but we are still allowing people to get their name down at this stage. If you are at all interested in attending them please let us know by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org – also spread the word wherever you can, using the hashtag #lincsblogmeet
We look forward to meeting everyone who can make it!
When you’re a blogger, going to a Blog Meet can be quite a big thing. Sometimes you really want to go, but never seem to have the opportunity. Other times the opportunity presents itself, but you’re not sure you’re brave enough to actually go. And then, if you do go… what should you expect? And then, once you’ve attended one, do you get the bug to go to MORE!?!
If you’ve never been to a blog meet before and you want to – then why not join us!
