Wednesday Wish List – Beauty and the Beast

June 3, 2015 by Bel 6 Comments

Last week it was my birthday so I decided to make a Wish List of all the things I was hoping for and didn’t get, or things I’ve discovered I’d really like, having thought of what I might get for my birthday. However as I compiled the list of items, 6 out of the 7 things were all Beauty and the Beast related. As such I scrapped the post-birthday wish list and instead just made a Beauty and the Beast Wish List.

As it is late at night, I’m not going to bother linking to each item and where you can buy it – as majority of the items aren’t easily accessible anyway. I’m just going to run through what there is and why I’d like it.

First up is the Mrs Potts (and Chip) Pop Funko. My Pop Funko collection started some time ago, with Belle in her yellow dress and then the Beast. It has now grown to include Lumiere, Cogsworth and Belle in her blue dress. As I’m not interested in the new “hipster” Belle that’s being released, Mrs Potts would complete my collection. I’m hoping to get her for myself during the next week or two.

Next are two Disney Couture necklaces, which if you’d asked me a year or so ago about, I wouldn’t have wanted as they’re gold. However now I’m trying to be open to new things and these two necklaces really appeal. I’m actually genuinely torn between which I like most, but my brother has given me £20 in TruffleShuffle vouchers so I’ll be making a decision soon.

Last on the top line is Mrs Potts and Chip as salt and pepper pots. When we went to WDW one of the main things I was hoping to look out for was a Disney salt and pepper pot. Sadly I didn’t really find anything I like, but these I would love. I would happily leave them on my dining table and give them almost every day use. I think Hot Topic sold some similar not that long ago but I’ve seen these in a few places.

Next up is a Thomas Kinkade painting. I’m not likely to own an original but it would be nice to have a canvas print at least. Thomas Kinkade is releasing a new wave of Disney paintings and this is his Beauty and the Beast 2. I have the first one so I would love to add this to my wall.

Plushies! Cogsworth, Lumiere and Mrs Potts (and Chip). I’d love them all. Only Mrs Potts is easily available and I would definitely be fussy about the other two (I’ve seen some terrible versions) but it would be nice to have all three. I love Plush toys and I have the Beast already, so it would be nice to give him some friends.

Belle E.L.F. make up brushes. I was really surprised not to be able to find these on Ebay – or many Disney E.L.F. products for that matter. These brushes are so simple and not really even necessarily but I would like to have them for the odd times I actually do wear make up. It’s Belle, what better reason is there?

Lumiere. Gosh. I’m so annoyed at myself for not buying him in Florida when I had the chance. He was $50 and all I worried about was whether or not I’d have room for him. He was £50 in the UK so it was already quite a saving and then he actually went up to £60. Now he’s no longer available on the Disney Store web site (though he has gone and been back once before so he might return) and I’m really wondering how I might get a hold of him. A light up Lumiere. All I’d need then would be a working clock Cogsworth. Apparently they made them once too.

Beauty and the Beast Sugar Pot, from the Mrs Potts tea set. Though I haven’t actually got it yet, Amy bought me Mrs Potts and Chip for my birthday. Having looked around since, I’d really love a few more cups to make it a set, but also the sugar pot to match. Believe it or not, the sugar pot is pretty difficult to find by itself though. I’m going to have to keep my eye out and maybe grab it when I have the chance.

Finally the Be Our Guest dinner set. I wouldn’t say I like 100% of it but I do like the majority. Chris is always telling me we have too many mugs so I could probably skip out on them. I’d definitely love the plates and the wine glass – the bowls would be a good additional extra!

My Little Box – Box 4 (December)

December 30, 2014 by Bel Leave a Comment

The end of December is drawing in and I’m hoping to catch up on the couple of reviews I still have left to do. However before December officially ends, I thought I’d better get this month’s “My Little Box” posted about!

This month’s box was Christmas themed but was also teamed up with Fleur De Force, a beauty journalist. I’ve said it before but I love the beautiful illustrations, the attention to detail and even the additional stickers on the inside of the packaging. This time it read “Christmas Cheer…. loading”.

As always, the first thing inside the box is the trademark illustrated postcard. I’ve started to put these up in my room as they look so nice. This month the postcard reads: Christmas isn’t a Season, it’s a feeling.

Again there is a magazine this month and tut tut, I still haven’t read it. Underneath that, some surprised that I couldn’t wait to look at!!

First up, inside the box, was a present for me! Inside the cute little cushion box, was a hairband which though simple, is actually quite nice. Sadly it’s not really my style, but its still a cute gift.

After that, came some cute little Christmas bits and pieces. There were some gift tags, some string and also some printed masking tape. I’m happy to report that I used all the gift tags and string for my Christmas presents this year!

Finally came the usual make-up/beauty goody bag. As always, there were three products – body lotion, lipstick and some moisturiser. I’m especially looking forward to trying the cream, as its made by L’Occitane and I love the hand cream I have of theirs.

All in all, I’m very happy with this subscription box. I have to admit that I am still tempted to cancel though, as I’ve had 4 boxes now and I really should be saving for Florida (especially since I quit my job!). I’m still toying with the idea at the moment so no doubt I’ll end up getting January’s but we’ll have to see after that!

#LincsBlogMeet – Benefit

July 30, 2014 by Bel Leave a Comment

Benefit was another of our amazing supporters for the #LincsBlogMeet. They were kind enough to donate a lollitint for each Blogger who attended.

Prior to the #LincsBlogMeet, I had really only heard about Benefit, though by the time the event took place, I’d actually treated myself to some “They’re Real” mascara. I am a huge fan, of both their look and style – something about their branding, colours and look, just makes me want to buy. In fact, just this week I’ve treated myself to some “They’re Real” push-up liner.

While there are lots of other Benefit products I would like to try, sadly money – saving for holidays and Christmas, is definitely a factor that stops me buying any. However I’ve been really impressed with the few things I’ve tried so far.

Benefit have a “Benefesto” (basically their manifesto). It’s all about loving life, feeling glam, laughing lots and feeling good. I honestly feel like this is the vibe I get from their products and site. Jean and Jane Ford – two sisters – started off the company, in 1976 in San Francisco. Their mantra was “make up doesn’t have to be serious to look good”. The company developed, expanded and became international. In 2008, Jean’s daughters – Maggie and Annie, joined the “sisterhood”. Benefit has gone from strength to strength, winning numerous awards for their products, including some from Elle and Cosmopolitan.

I can’t wait to try more of the Benefit products, how about you?
What would be your recommendations?

Week 26 – Monday Round-up

June 30, 2014 by Bel Leave a Comment

This week has been straight out exhausting, just like the last one. I don’t think it helped that I started the week tired mind you, but despite a generally quiet sort of a week, I somehow don’t think I’ve caught up on very much sleep.

As it has been recently, Monday to Friday were just regular work and school days. On Monday though, Lily had to dress like a Scientist for her Science WOW Week, then on Friday Megan did the same. The girls also had a school “Share” at 3pm on Friday. Luckily as this is after work, I was able to attend. Mum went to Lily’s (as usually I always go to Lily’s) and I went to Megan’s. However Megan’s share was all about the elastic band cars they’d been making and as Megan’s class raced their cars first, I snuck out and headed to Lily’s where I was just in time to see her fly her paper airplane!

School has been bothering me a bit recently as they seem to be cramming so much into this last half term, I can barely catch my breath. There has already been 2 dress up days for Lily (1 for Megan), a school trip for Megan, Sports Day for them both and Lily’s class assembly. Still to come there are two more school trips, another dress up day for Lily in the form of a beach day, numerous evening meetings to attend etc. I feel like my head is going to explode and on top of that I work in a school which means I actually have the exact same situation going on at work which results in having to work more and having even less time to attend the girls stuff!

Anyway… Mondays I love because of Cohorted! I posted about them recently but basically every Monday at 6pm I try to grab myself a beauty bargain. Last week I got the Naked Palette 1 and this week I managed to grab the Naked Palette 2. It’s sad to say I look forward to Mondays, just for this reason!

Wednesday was weigh-in day and I lost 2lb which puts me only 1lb shy of a full stone. I feel pretty good about this though sadly its fallen on a week where I’ve felt very emotional and ended up eating a lot of junk. Realistically I’m looking at a no weight loss for next week I think but its probably worth it to keep my sanity!

Over the duration of the week, I started working on my comic con costume. Tuesday I cut out the pieces of my skirt (with Nat’s help) and sewed the majority of it together. Wednesday I worked on the waist band for the skirt and also cut out the corset pieces. By Thursday I was nipping to my mum’s for help doing the zip for the skirt and finalising the waistband. Mum then kept it overnight and hemmed the bottom of my skirt for me (she’s a star!). I now just have the corset to complete but Chris is beginning to think about making his costume which could be interesting with less than two weeks to go till Comic Con!

Friday night the girls and I had a girls night and watched a movie. They’ve been dying to watch the 1998 version of The Parent Trap ever since I mentioned it to them and so this is what we did. Both the girls loved it and I blubbed most of the way through it too! After the girls had gone to bed I downloaded our next murder mystery and started to organise what I’d need to do and who would be who. Watch this space for a review at the end of July, but also for the latest one we did a few weeks ago – sometime this week!

By Saturday I was exhausted even more and so a lie in till 10am was necessary! I couldn’t stay in bed any longer than that though as it was the girls’ School Fair and they were both singing in it. By about 11.20am we were all ready and leaving the house, to get to school no later than 11.50am. We were there with plenty of time, the girls sang beautifully for half an hour and then afterwards we all went to get burgers and wander around the fair. Afterwards we headed into Lincoln to do some shopping. Megan has a school trip which she had several specific things she needed for it and so that was our main aim. So Lily didn’t feel left out though, I let her pick up a few things too.

Majority of our shop was in Primark, but we also went to Accessorize and Asda Living. On top of that we grabbed coffee from Starbucks and all in all, after calling in on my mum too, we didn’t all get home until nearly 6.30pm. The girls insisted on taking pictures of their shopping spree and putting them on their blogs. If you’re one of the very few followers of them, you should see their posts. Once the girls were in bed I settled down to get some stuff done on my computer, worked a bit more on my corset and then went to bed!

Sunday was a little unexpected to say the least! Just as we were heading to bed on Saturday, Chris made a decision that he wanted to make his own costume for Comic Con. As you know, my own costume is something I debated and deliberated over for ages so Chris saying he wanted to make his – well it threw us into a bit of a tailspin! We spent majority of Sunday morning deciding what or who, he would go as.  Once that was decided, we headed out to Boyes and bought some material. When we got back from the shops, Chris wanted to move his computer to the attic room (something I’ve ultimately requested to claim my dining room back) and so I did some work on my own corset. By about 8pm, once the girls were in bed, Chris and I set to finding a free waistcoat pattern online – then printing it out on about 36 sheets of paper and playing jigsaws! Once we’d got it all sorted out, we cut it up, stuck it back together and finally we were ready to cut out the actual material. After that I sewed it all together and left it at that. Its far from perfect but as I still need to edge the waistcoat in white and add a bit of fur around the collar, I’m hoping it will look fine once I’m done!

Anyway, at around 10pm we went to watch the last couple of episodes of Dollhouse, a series we’ve been watching for a while now, over a period of time. I’m actually pretty sad its over but unlike a lot of series, at least it got a proper ending. Poor Joss Whedon and his cancelled shows!

Well that was my week, how about yours? Fingers crossed for a calmer and quieter week this week!
