On Wednesday of last week, Chris and I went out to dinner at a very (very) nice restaurant called The Bronze Pig. Since we very rarely eat out in such places, I decided it was time to treat myself to a new dress – not just that, but since losing a stone in weight, I figured it would be good to treat myself to a size 14 dress, instead of a 16. I headed into New Look (there isn’t much choice in Gainsborough – that or Next) and wandered around for a while. One of the first dresses to catch my eye was this one and when ten minutes later it was still my favourite pick, I took it into the changing rooms to try it on. The price tag was £29 which to be honest isn’t that expensive but is more than I have spent on clothes for me in a long time. I decided to get it anyway as I wanted something special to wear that evening.

Since we were going out to the cinema first, I chose to take the dress with me and change before dinner, rather than wear my new dress to the cinema too. I threw my black heels, a few pairs of tights and some make up into a bag and just hoped I would have everything I needed.
And this is how it looked on! Sadly, they aren’t great pictures – no offence to Chris but I wish I’d been able to take them myself or had remembered my proper camera. I absolutely love the colour – I think that’s what drew me to the dress in the first place. I also love the style – it reminds me very much of Joe Browns. Unfortunately now looking back at the pictures I still find myself wishing I was thinner, but at the time I felt pretty and I guess that’s what matters.
I really do love the dress and even more so that it can be dressed up or dressed down. I wore it with plain black tights and heels for going out, but it could very easily be worn with jeans or leggings for more of a casual look (of which I’m sure I’ll get more use for it that way). I would be happy to wear this style of clothing all the time, if it wasn’t for the fact it would cost so much to overhaul my whole wardrobe! Also, I’d honestly like to be down to a size 12 before I even attempted that!!
Anyway… when we got home, I went a little crazy with the auto-timer and my iPad. The quality of the photo is poor but I think it gives a better look at the dress (and less of my head, which is always a plus!).
And that’s pretty much that…
…. well almost!
