T-Shirt Tuesday (Sinceriously)

March 3, 2015 by Bel

Last week I didn’t get around to posting my T-Shirt Tuesday (or Thursday for that matter) so I wanted to make this one count! While I’m still no further with my t-shirt project, I did still want to showcase the t-shirt I’m wearing.

wpid-20150301111921.jpg

Last week, this epic t-shirt arrived through my door. To be honest I’d almost forgotten I’d ordered it. I love this t-shirt for 2 reasons, the first being that it has Stephen Amell’s face on it (sorry, but it’s true!). The second is because this t-shirt is part of a campaign, called surprisingly “Sinceriously” (I say surprisingly, because you can read that on the t-shirt, right?). The word is a combination of Sincere and Seriously (look, a word the American’s didn’t steal the U out of!) and its designed to bring attention to this campaign.

“It’s a campaign to get people talking. And what better way to get people talking than by creating a new word” – Stephen

If you haven’t watched the TV series “Arrow”, then you most definitely should. And if it’s really not your thing, then give Stephen Amell a follow on Facebook anyway. YES, he’s hot. And yes, that’s the reason I was first interested, but not only that, Stephen is just an amazing guy with a huge heart. He’s using his fame to do good and in my book that makes him more than just a celebrity.

I bought my t-shirt in the first wave of the Sinceriously campaign but there has been a second one since. Sadly this is now closed but perhaps there will be another one or if not I’m sure there will be another good cause to back instead. I will wear my Sinceriously t-shirt with pride because not only do I have Stephen Amell’s face on my boob (seriously, it is! not to mention the tee is green to remind me of Arrow!!) I also know I’ve helped a good cause and hopefully will raise awareness by wearing it. Well done Stephen, the award for Awesomeness goes Sinceriously to you!

T-Shirt Thursday

February 19, 2015 by Bel

Yet again this week I’m posting my T-shirt Tuesday on a Thursday, but this week I sort of have a good excuse! My best friend Amy (from Cocktails in Teacups) decided very late on Monday night that she was coming to visit for a couple of days and so from Tuesday to today, I’ve had her and her daughter Olivia visiting. As such I’ve either been busy or completely exhausted, with no time to make blog posts (and none pre-done as a backup!). In all honesty, all I want to do tonight is go for a bath but a guilty conscience had got the better of me. As such though, its just going to be a quickie from me tonight – just the t-shirt I was wearing on Tuesday and no project t-shirt.

This t-shirt design is called Winter is Coming and combines a Frozen and Game of Thrones crossover. Elsa is sat on an ice version of the Iron Throne, with the quote “winter is coming”, a slogan from GoT too. The design belongs to an artist known as Harebrained. If you like the t-shirt, its available in a variety of places including RedBubble, TeeFury and TeePublic. It’s one of my favourite t-shirts and also drawing styles!

Though, like I said, I haven’t got around to starting on my next project, I will give you a sneak peak. This is the design I’ll be using next time!

T-shirt Tuesday

February 10, 2015 by Bel

Hello hello! It’s late on, on Tuesday, but I didn’t forget my T-shirt Tuesday post. As normal, I’m going to showcase the tee I wore today, as well as update you on last week’s project tee.

wpid-20150210092145.jpg

This here is the t-shirt I was wearing today. The design is called The Fandom School and its by someone called saltnburn. You can find the design for sale on Qwertee. It’s a very clever design, featuring fandoms of Supernatural, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Hunger Games and of course Harry Potter. The slogan at the bottom is J.R.R. Tolkien.  I love this t-shirt as its just a combination of geekiness.

And then onto my project…

wpid-20150205062646.jpg

Last week I told you about this t-shirt called Throne Fighter. It’s by DrewWise and can be found in various places such as Red Bubble, Ript Apparel and TeePublic. I decided since I didn’t like the fit of the shirt (I love the design) that I’d upcycle it into something new and with the Game of Thrones Exhibition tomorrow, what better time was there? Since I made a dress last time, I wanted to go for something different. As such, I made a hand bag this time and this was the process.

wpid-20150210045053.jpg wpid-20150210045107.jpg wpid-20150210045122.jpg
First I cut off the sleeves and then I cut slits into the bottom of the t-shirt. After that I pulled on each slit, making a sort of noodle out of each. Finally I tied each tassle in pairs, front and back, in a double knot. This gave me the basics for the bag. After that I just made a few alterations to the sleeve holes and the straps, adjusting it to look right. This is what I finished up with!

And here it is, my completed Game of Thrones back which I will be taking with me to the O2 tomorrow. I’m really pleased with how it turned out and I can’t wait to try it out!

Pop back next week to see another showcase tee and I’ll pick out my next project t-shirt too.

T-Shirt Thursday

February 5, 2015 by Bel

Okay so its not Tuesday, its Thursday… but what’s a few days between friends? This week on Tuesday I a) didn’t wear a t-shirt and b) ended up out of the house far too long to actually get around to making this post. As such I decided that I’d push it back a few days and bring you T-Shirt Thursday!

First let’s get around to the t-shirt I’ve been wearing today. It’s one of the ones I’ve owned for the longest and I love it, it’s been made using the t-shirt screen printer, it has such a grea quality.

wpid-20150205062631.jpg wpid-20150205062419.jpg
Today’s tee is a nice bright red one, that crosses Disney’s “The Incredibles” with the Princess Bride and its well known expression “Inconceivable”. The design is by ZombieDollars and is called, surprisingly, The Inconceivables. I originally bought it from Qwertee, way back in September of 2012. It is currently for sale in a variety of places including TeeFury and TeePublic. ZombieDollars is also know as Nik Holmes and you can check out all his designs on his website www.nikholmes.com (I definitely recommend you do!)

After that, we move onto this week’s t-shirt project. If you’re new to T-shirt Tuesday or even my blog, I’ll quickly fill you in. A few weeks ago I went through my mountains of tees and picked out a few that I didn’t really wear for one reason or another. I have decided to up-cycle and re-purpose some of them, blogging about them here on a Tuesday (or in this case Thursday!). This week’s project is Game of Thrones themed, as next week I’m traveling to the O2 in London, to see the Game of Thrones Exhibition.

wpid-20150205062646.jpg

This tee is a cross between not only Game of Thrones, but also computer games such as Street Fighter or Tekken. The design is called “Throne Fighter” and I loved it from the moment I saw it. However I don’t really like the t-shirt I bought it on, so I’ll be recycling it this week into something else I can use! Check back here next week to see how I’ve got on…. *hint* it won’t be a dress this time!

T-shirt Tuesday

January 27, 2015 by Bel

So a week has passed from the time I announced my new feature – T-shirt Tuesday. I have two to share with you today, both the one I’ve been wearing today and also the one I started on as my “project” t-shirt.

First up, is the t-shirt I’m wearing today. I have loads and loads of t-shirts by this artist – Karen Hallion. In fact, she’s pretty much my favourite artist. I’ve actually made it my quest to own all her Disney/Who t-shirts and I’m not far off doing so! This particular design is called “Part of Every World” and is available to buy in a variety of places including TeeFury, RedBubble and Society 6.

Unlike majority of my t-shirt (they’re black), this one is a nice blue colour. It was available in other colours but since its set under the sea, I liked the idea of keeping it blue. Anyway – this is my t-shirt of the day!

Next up, you might remember the t-shirt I decided to take as my first project t-shirt, this time last week.

wpid-20150120082915.jpg

To be absolutely honest with you, I couldn’t remember where I ordered this from, what the design was called or who the artist was before making this post. However I’ve taken the last fifteen minutes or so to root through my emails and figure it out. The artist is CleverAvian (Kate I think) and they use various platforms such as RedBubble, TeePublic and DeviantArt. This particular design is called “The Last Petal” and it features Belle (from Beauty and the Beast), along with the Beast and a rose.

I started off by cutting off the sleeves, roughly in a shape I wanted. Sadly I cut a little bit too much off the second side and had to level it on the original side. I had a feeling back then that I’d cut too much but I ploughed on as I wanted to finish anyway. Next I cut a skirt out of t-shirt material and stitched the top and bottom together. I sewed all the edges to neaten and then cut the neckline lower as one of my issues with the t-shirt was its high neckline.

As you can see from the middle picture, my bra shows due to cutting the armhole too big. I can luckily cover this by wearing a vest tee underneath, a cardigan on the top, or I could even sew an extra panel on each side for a permanent solution. Otherwise though, for a first attempt, I’m pretty pleased with it! Will I wear it? I guess we’ll have to wait and see but…

I’m wearing it now!!

Keep an eye out for my next T-shirt Tuesday to see what I’m wearing and what I’m working on!

T-shirt Tuesdays

January 20, 2015 by Bel

Today I had a sort out of my drawers. I didn’t really go to plan…

Back in June of 2013, I posted all about my t-shirt addiction and anyone who has been following my blog for some time, will know that I have been buying t-shirts on and off for years. That said, I’ve noticed over the last year, I haven’t been buying as many as I used to. I don’t know if that’s because they don’t appeal any more, if it was perhaps a fad, or maybe partly connected to body image in the increased weight. Whatever the reason, I also know I haven’t been wearing the t-shirts as much either but the new pages from the bestdamnpolos.com helped me get the t-shirts and wear them more. That was partly because of wearing work uniform every day, but largely because of the extra weight I’ve been carrying and not feeling as comfortable in the tight tees. As such, I decided that this morning I would sort out my two whole drawers full of t-shirts – try and separate out some to sell, some to throw, some to up-cycle perhaps.

wpid-20150120080625.jpg

I started to take all my t-shirts out of the drawer, making a pile to go back in and supposedly a pile to go. I went through every t-shirt I owned, without wanting to get rid of a single one. It was while I was doing this, that I realised what a huge geek I was and that even my lesser fandoms were so loved that I didn’t want to get rid of them. As such, I decided I would make the feature “T-shirt Tuesdays”. The basic idea would be to feature one t-shirt a week, to showcase all the awesome tees I have.

I set about going through the pile again – this time more ruthlessly. I manage to add about ten tops to the “to go” pile, but this was largely because I didn’t like the fit and style, rather than not liking the design. It was at this point that I decided, perhaps I would up-cycle them instead. After posting something to Facebook and having a few people comment, I decided that dresses were my preferred option of where to go with it. After doing a bit of googling, I found various ways to go about it and today I made a start.

So… while some weeks “T-shirt Tuesdays” will just feature the t-shirt I’m wearing, other weeks it will showcase my “project” t-shirt.  This week I’m bringing you the “Beauty and the Beast” tee that I’m going to attempt my first dress with. This is what it looks like now and I’ll let you know how it turns out!
